From Sept 1, 2008 travelers from mainland China can not go to Macau SAR only with their Hong Kong enter permit and Macau government also cut the day of visa-free entry to 7 days for travelers from mainland China. However, I enjoyed 14-day visa-free enter to Macau last year. What's worse, if you are going to Macau with your Chinese ordinary passport for twice and not going abroad from Macau you can NOT go to Macau forever in the future with your passport.
Macau government hopes these new rules could cut down the illegal activities around casinos. What illegal activities exactly? They mean the prostitution. Though Macau is famous for gamble there is not any red-light district like most of countries.

With the strict rules I am not sure the gamblers from China will still like to come to Macau. And I also wonder without the prostitution Taiwanese tourism will stay enjoy Macau?

The most famous casino Grand Lisboa in Macau.
